On January 15 of this year, we shared a link to a ’60 Minutes’ piece regarding the increasing automation of America on our Facebook page. This article is even more enlightening (scary?). It explains the continued “hollowing out” of the American work place (in fact of workplaces globally).
We often say to our friends in the corporate world that they should make sure that they are integral to the functioning of their companies… or start looking for their next job immediately. The linked article explains why.
Don’t keep your head in the sand. If you have a backup plan, awesome… review it regularly to make sure it is still the backup plan that you want. If you don’t have a backup plan, start developing one immediately (short-term trading is not a bad place to look by the way). In any case, make sure you’re prepared… you’ll be glad you did.
